Skeleton Team

While the terrain and climate of Ghana are not really designed for winter sports, the skeleton team of BSF-Ghana is ready to take advantage of the training and support provided by the federation. Headed by the famous bobsledder, sprinter, and skeleton athlete Akwasi Frimpong, Ghana skeleton sports team comprises of young and talented athletes who are passionate to represent Ghana in international sports events and earn global recognition and appreciation.

Here is a list of athletes who are a part of our Ghana winter Olympic skeleton team along with their short profile.

  • Akwasi Frimpong — Akwasi Frimpong is a Dutch-Ghanaian sprinter, bobsledder, and skeleton athlete who has won 4 bronze, 4 silver, and 8 gold medals in various national and international sport events. He earned the title of Dutch National Junior Champion in the 200 meter sprints in 2003, which earned him the nickname ‘GoldenSprint.’ He then moved to the US where he won several races for the Utah Valley University. The athlete, who is also an entrepreneur and founder of three start-ups, is now set to make an appearance in the 2018 winter Olympics and become the first Ghanaian skeleton athlete to participate in the prestigious sports event.

Bobsled Team

Played in teams of 2 and 4, Bobsled is a sport that requires agility, control, and most importantly, teamwork. Being the pioneer bobsled and skeleton administering body in Ghana, BSF-Ghana is looking for young, talented bobsledders who have the passion and zeal to represent their country in local and national sports events. If you’re willing to be a part of Ghana bobsleigh team and participate in two-man and four-man bobsled races organized by BSF-Ghana, you may send us your resume at contact@bsfghana.com.

Hall of Fame

Welcome to BSF-Ghana’s virtual Hall of Fame.

The BSF-Ghana Hall of Fame has been developed to keep a permanent record and an institutional memory of athletes and coaches who showed extraordinary performance and succeeded against all odds. It is an effort to honor their performance and to inspire other athletes and coaches to deliver a similar performance and earn recognition for their team and their country.

In order to be eligible as a nominee, an athlete or a coach must exhibit extraordinary athletic performance and sportsmanship. Athletes who have participated in community activities to promote the sports of skeleton and bobsled in Ghana are also encouraged to apply.
